• Groww, an online stock broker, has received approval for its IPO from the Securities and Exchange Board of India and has filed an updated DRHP. The IPO aims to raise between Rs 6,000 crore ($683 million) and Rs 7,000 crore ($800 million) and includes both a fresh issue of shares and a secondary sale by existing shareholders.
• Peak XV Partners, an early investor in Groww, is expected to gain a return multiple of 52-54x on its investment and plans to sell approximately 13% of its shares, potentially earning around Rs 1,600 crore. The VC firm currently owns a fifth of the company.
• Ribbit Capital, which led Groww's Series B round, is also anticipating a significant windfall, estimated at Rs 1,200 crore ($137 million), by divesting nearly 13% of its shareholding through multiple entities. One of Ribbit's vehicles is eyeing returns of over 40x.
• Y Combinator, the Series C lead investor, is projected to achieve a multiple of 30x on its investment and is offloading more than an eighth of its stake, potentially cashing out over Rs 1,000 crore. Other investors like Tiger Global, Propel Ventures, and Alkeon Capital Management are also expected to profit from the IPO.
