• Kedaara Capital and ChrysCapital, prominent Indian private equity firms, have invested in ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company through their respective public markets funds. Kedaara launched its public markets fund about a year ago, while ChrysCapital's Clarus platform began investing in publicly listed companies in March 2023.
• Both firms acquired shares from British insurer Prudential Plc before ICICI Prudential AMC's initial public offering (IPO), which involves Prudential selling a 10% stake. ICICI Bank, the joint venture partner, is not selling any shares, and the asset manager is not issuing new ones.
• The IPO aims to raise Rs 10,602 crore at the upper price band, with anchor investors like Temasek and GIC contributing significantly. Prudential also sold an additional 4.5% stake prior to the IPO, with ICICI Bank being a major buyer.
• Kedaara's public markets fund invested Rs 30 crore, and ChrysCapital's Clarus platform invested Rs 45 crore in ICICI Prudential AMC. Both firms have been actively deploying capital into publicly listed companies through their newer fund structures.
